An essay is required to complete your application.

Essay topic: Describe your educational goals, highlighting your educational career, or describe your involvement in any leadership development programs.
Submit essay as a word document and send to admissions@ltu.edu to complete your file.
Game Art majors are required to submit a portfolio as part of the admissions requirements.

Design portfolios for B.F.A. in Game Art should include a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 pieces. An acceptable portfolio is one that exhibits proficient drawing and conceptual skills. It should include a variety of art media and/or design projects that demonstrate the potential for artistic development. The pieces should be complete compositions of various themes and include still life, figurative drawing, perspective, and feature objects found in every day life. Examples of three-dimensional formation and sculptural form are encouraged. Portfolios will not be returned. Electronic submission of portfolios is encouraged.

The format for the portfolio submission is to be:
  • The resolution of included images should be 150 dpi each in .JPG file format.
  • Files should be saved in following format: lastnamefirstname_gameart_1.jpg (Ex. smithjohn_gameart_1.jpg, smithjohn_gameart_2.jpg)
  • Please send portfolio electronically to the LTU admission’s office at admissions@ltu.edu with “BFA Game Art Portfolio” in the subject line.

Industrial Design and Transportation Design majors are required to submit a portfolio as part of the admissions requirements.

Design portfolio should include a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 pieces. An acceptable portfolio is one that exhibits proficient drawing and conceptual skills. It can include a variety of art media and/or design projects that demonstrate observational sketching/drawing capabilities that convey artistic development proficiency. Some pieces should be complete compositions of various themes and include still life, figurative drawing, perspective, and feature objects found in everyday life – while other illustrations can be simple sketch studies. The resolution of included images should be low resolution, such as VGA setting on digital camera.

The format for the portfolio submission is to be:
  • Low resolution (VGA setting on digital camera)
  • Images should be compiled into one file (for example, place one image per slide in a Powerpoint file)
  • Save the filename with the student’s named.
  • Please send portfolio or any questions regarding the program or portfolio to design@ltu.edu and follow-up with a separate email to confirm receipt of the previous email with attachments.
